This 8-session course will explain, demonstrate, and provide practice in doing basic genealogy research. It will begin with the basics of sound research practices, discuss where to look for genealogical evidence, and take you to different types of genealogical websites. Research charts, documentation, and organization will be covered. Genealogical software, online subscription options, and numerous free websites will be discussed. Guided support for researching and building your tree will be provided. Breaks and practice time are built into each meeting.

Recommended supplies: Please bring a laptop to each session (or use one of our spares). Notebook, binder, and pen/pencil suggested but not required. Print the handouts shared via Google Drive to avoid copying fees. Download the presentations shared via Google Drive before each class.
